20 years ago (1992)

Mary and Nathan Tuomi have more to celebrate Friday than the coming of the new year. They will be celebrating the birth of their daughter, Emmy Lee, who was Crow Wing County’s New Year’s Baby of 1992. Mary said Emmy started walking at 8 months.

30 years ago (1982)

40 years ago (1972)

The Minnesota Dept. of Health rescinded its permit for the construction of a campground at Nokay Lake. Robert Corwine, Bloomington, has had a two-year battle with residents to build the campground. Its fate now rests with the County Appeals Board.

60 years ago (1952)

(Adv.) You Wouldn’t Believe It, But Seeing Is Believing! Bert Clausen, the “Mad Master of the Piano,” plays the piano wearing chopping mitts after covering the keyboard with a cloth. It’s sensational! Esser’s Stage Bar – Downtown Brainerd.

80 years ago (1932)

Standings and scoring marks as of Christmas week for the bowling leagues are: Braino Beverage leads the “A” League, Mraz Candy the “B” League and Peaches Café the “C” League. Van Essen has the top series of 645, and top single game is Elling at 246.

100 years ago (1912)

Dr. H. G. Ingersoll will entertain the members of the Black Hawk Club with a dinner tonight at his residence. The dinner will be given for Clyde Parker, who is about to be married, and will be the recipient of a handkerchief shower at the event.

The hanky thing with a bunch of guys is kinda weird.

Took you long

Enough to get back to me.

Now if ya want to hear something weird. I read an obit in a paper back from my area & it did not mention he was preceded in death by 2 of his son's. He has a daughter that is older than I & that's the last one of that family alive. When I see you I will give you the rest of the story as I was told today.
