30 years ago (1982)

(Photo) A unique display of more than 5,000 cartridges, the life-long hobby of the late Les Ebert of Pequot Lakes, was dedicated for permanent display at the Law Enforcement Center. A plaque of thanks was presented to his children, Russ Ebert and Joy Moody.

40 years ago (1972)

A broken water main that leaked into a telephone manhole ultimately set off the civil defense siren and routed residents in central Brainerd from their beds at 3:30 a.m. Some 550 telephone lines went out and police, fire and civil defense officials were busy.

60 years ago (1952)

Securing of the proposed mental hospital for Brainerd has been made the No. 1 priority for the Crow Wing County Republican committee. An option has been taken on a site here, but the decision as to location of the hospital remains with the legislature.

80 years ago (1932)

All of the Cuyuna Range area, including Brainerd, that has benefited by the development of the iron mining industry, joined in silent tribute to the memory of Cuyler Adams, who passed away two days ago at his winter home in N. Carolina. He will be buried in Duluth.

100 years ago (1912)

Jacob Kaupp, the enterprising Laurel Street butcher is now at home in the Kaupp Block, a testament to local endeavors throughout. The building was designed by White Bros., built by Carl Erickson and local labor used. The brick was made here by the Ritari Brothers.

Securing of the proposed mental hospital for Brainerd has been made the No. 1 priority for the Crow Wing County Republican committee.

And to listen to the DFLers around Brainerd Don Samualson laid every brick on that place personally and John Ward paid for it.
