There may be another court hearing on the county attorney’s staff salary dispute. Jack Graham, refused the chance to speak to the issue at yesterday’s board meeting, has filed contempt of court charges against Cheryl Gelbmann, Tom Fitzpatrick and Sig Stier.

(Photo) Anne Monda comes up for air during the 500 freestyle in last night’s Central Lakes Conference swim meet against St. Cloud Apollo. Monda won the 100 and 500 yard freestyles as the Brainerd girls recorded a 79-48 victory, winning 9 of 11 events.

Brainerd law officers and skin diver Bill Mathies were still searching today for the body of a 22-year-old man who apparently drowned while duck hunting on Lake Edward yesterday. His duck boat and motor were found lodged against some reeds.

Too early for Christmas shopping? “Don’t you believe it,” says Brainerd postmaster Joe Dunn. This year there are more relatives, friends and sweethearts in the armed forces than since WW II. To reach them overseas, mail packages before Nov. 15th.

Accidentally shot in the heel by a hunting companion while unloading his gun, a Minneapolis man was resting comfortably at St. Joseph’s Hospital. The man lost considerable blood due to the delay when their car skidded off ice covered roads.

Jack Newhart, of Dayton, Ohio, has come to Brainerd to take charge of the Ridley Gymnasium. He is a clean cut, all around athlete and a No. 1 Turkish back rubber. Mr. Ridley is fortunate to secure a man of this kind, and all should patronize the gym.
