The awarding of a bid for a city bus system was stymied for a second straight time at the Brainerd City Council meeting on a technicality. Reichert Bus bid $8,000 for a yearly contract, with option for a second. The council wanted a two-year bid.

Bethlehem English Lutheran Church was the scene of the wedding in which Lois LoRayne Bedal became the bride of Donald George Jensen on Oct. 11. The Rev. J. R. Michaelson officiated at the double ring candlelight service.

80 years ago (1932)

A 37-year-old used furniture dealer from Brainerd was dead after a fight at a dance at the Little Pine Resort on Saturday night. The deceased was said to have struck the first blow, according to a Dispatch interview with the accused assailant, who showed a cut lip.

100 years ago (1912)

Driven by the wind, a little partridge hit its head on a telephone pole and then struck the screen door of Charles Miller, 313 1st Ave. NE. It was roasted for supper. “We Northeast people don’t have to go hunting. The game flies right in the front door,” said Miller.
