Exotic dancing in Crow Wing County is heading toward a legal challenge. Sheriff Dick Ross told the county board he’s received complaints about [filtered word] Willows, a new club on Hwy 371 North. He and County Attorney Jack Graham are researching the law to draft an ordinance.

30 years ago (1982)

(Photo) Milli Michaelis presents a check to Zahi Ismir and Ed Fox, officers of the Brainerd Vocational School trust fund, to fully fund a scholarship in honor of her late son. Michael Michaelis was killed in an accident two years ago.

40 years ago (1972)

Tradition has it that when Brainerd and C-I clash on the football field you can throw away the record books. Last night’s game was no exception as it took Aaron Opatz’s two extra point kicks for the favored Warriors to come away with a 20-18 win at C-I.

60 years ago (1952)

A new record for the season for both Brainerd and the state was set with a largemouth bass caught by Charles Extrand of Brainerd. He caught a 7-4 specimen on Whipple Lake with a Chub Creek Darter. A week earlier he caught a 6-4 bass – same lake, same lure.
