Increased cooperation between the cities of Brainerd and Baxter could produce significant savings in the opinion of a study committee. Tom Kotula, Brainerd; Jon Main, Baxter; and Darold Owens, rural Brainerd, have delivered a report to the two mayors.

Fluoridation of the Brainerd city water supply will resume Oct. 1 after the Water and Light Board rejected the city’s request that fluoridation be delayed while the council studied a motion presented by attorney Jack Graham.

Six men have found violation of the game and fish laws to be expensive. Nisswa Justice of the Peace Dick Parks meted out fines of from $10 to $60 for using a gill net to take fish. Two men were arrested with a 400 foot net and 30 pounds of fish in their boat.

100 years ago (1912)

Copper assaying at 80 percent pure and more has been struck in Shaft No. 2 at the Barrows mine at a depth of 175 feet. The most intense excitement is raging in this section of the Cuyuna Range as a result of the discovery. The main source must be close at hand.
