20 years ago (1992)

(Photo) Steve Kerr of Redstone Construction drives his small bulldozer down Bluff Street in Brainerd. Reconstruction of Bluff, which is expected to be completed by early October, will include curb and gutter, new pavement and sanitary and storm sewers.

30 years ago (1982)

(Photo) Skilpoint Golf victors for 1982, Marv Wolverton and Marv Bollig, also teamed for the championship five years ago. Their win at the Brainerd Country Club course scored 86 points to the 78 from Jerry Feriancek-Randy Heidmann among 50 teams.

40 years ago (1972)

October 4 has been set as the date for Brainerd school teachers to decide whether the Brainerd Education Assn. or Brainerd Federation of Teachers will represent them as exclusive bargaining agent. In the past, the majority group got 3 on the panel, the other placed 2.

60 years ago (1952)

Bill Selisker came into his own as a split-T quarterback at Park Rapids and geared the Warriors to a furious 3rd-quarter comeback for a 20-6 victory over the Panthers. He capped two scoring drives himself, one on a brilliant broken-field run of 37 yards.

80 years ago (1932)

Another “freak” was added to the vegetable collection at the offices of the Dispatch when a cabbage bearing heads for the second time was brought in. After producing its original head, the cabbage produced 10 more, with 9 of those of saleable size and quality.

100 years ago (1912)

Leslie Bush, star pitcher for Missoula in the Union League, arrived here on the midnight train from St. Paul. He leaves Sunday to join Connie Mack and the Philadelphia Athletics in Chicago. At Missoula the Brainerd boy pitched in 47 games, winning 34 of them.
