Uncle Sam took his lumps this week and limped away from a bad business deal. Resolution Trust Corp. the federal agency charged with selling off savings and loan assets, got $165,000 for the BN Historic Site, writing off the balance of the $1.5 million mortgage.

Traffic lights at Washington and North 8th streets were damaged yesterday when a semi-truck’s load failed to clear the overhead lights, said Brainerd Police. The load on the truck was too high to clear, causing an estimated $1,000 in damage.

Wisconsin Central Airlines announces a new flight from Minneapolis arriving here at 1:34 p.m., with a return flight at 4:44 p.m. Air mail letters and parcels arriving at the post office by 4 p.m. will make the outbound flight and be delivered the next day.

The Turner grocery store was robbed last night, entrance being gained through a small window. The thieves are reported to have taken several sacks of flour, some bacon, sugar, canned goods, etc.
