The East Gull Lake Village Council has voted 3-1 to file an injunction to stop the U.S. Corps of Engineers from closing a public road leading from the federal dam to Squaw Point on Gull Lake. The corps plans to build a public boat launch on the Gull River.

Robert Graus and the Brainerd Playgoers Assn. have scored another “homerun” with their production of “Harvey,” the Pulitzer Prize winning comedy about an invisible rabbit. The play features Robert Snook in the role of Elwood P. Dowd.

Stroking a dazzling 68 over the tricky course in a driving rain, T. B. Rush of Kansas was winner of the annual Breezy Point Golf Tournament. He shattered par by four strokes, including an eagle on the 5th hole, and bested W. F. Rusk of Los Angeles by one shot.

Deerwood’s 4th of July celebration was mostly for the homefolks, but many strangers paused to enjoy the celebration near the Ingalls boat docks. The high jump record was broken by a railroad civil engineer who actually cleared six feet, discouraging competitors.
