John Stensrud, treasurer of a committee that sponsored a Jack Chalberg Appreciation Night, presents a check for $236 raised at the banquet to Dale Nathan of the Brainerd Junior College Foundation. The money will go toward a perpetual scholarship in Chalberg’s name.

Twenty hits rattled off the bats of Danny’s Texaco team in YMCA City Softball League action between the Ironton team and the State Guard team of Brainerd. Texaco took the game in five innings 21-3. Singles accounted for 17 of the 20 Texaco hits.

Brainerd renewed the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag last night in an inspiring Flag Day ceremony sponsored by the Elks lodge at Gregory Park. Hundreds of people crowded the park and cars lined the streets. J. J. Nolan, exalted ruler, read the history of the flag.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Anderson returned from Merrifield today. They brought down one of the finest strings of bass ever seen in this town. Ed is a great fisherman when his wife is along.
