Anne Gustafson of Brainerd finished tied for 25th place at the two-day Class AA state girls’ golf tournament at Bunker Hills Golf Course. Gustafson, a Warrior junior, carded an 86 Thursday to finish with a two-total of 184.

John Streachek, Brainerd senior sprint star, earned himself a trip to the state tournament with second place finishes in the 100, 220 and 440 events at the Region Six meet at Glenwood. He scored all 12 points for Coach Ron Long’s Warrior team at the meet.

A Crow Wing County jury of eight men and four women found Doris Dalrymple guilty of accessory to grand larceny in a verdict at 2 p.m. today. She and her husband Russell were charged with using a forged check to purchase a Nash car from a Brainerd dealer.
80 years ago (1932)
A reckless driving charge against Bernice Olson assumed elements of a major trial, when a full gallery forced it to be moved to the council chambers. Attorneys began the case at 7 p.m. and it went to the jury at 1:30 in the morning. A hung jury was declared at 6 a.m.
100 years ago (1912)
The Ministerial Association of the city enjoyed a pleasant picnic at Gilbert Lake. Sermons were found in running brooks and placid waters of the lake, and the outing imbued the gentlemen with new ideas caused by their communing with nature.
