An explosion rocked a Washington Street intersection as a gasoline spill at the Northeast Spur Station triggered a blast that gutted the building and slightly injured a Brainerd firefighter. Ed “Ike” Isackson “heard a little click – and then a boom.”

Brainerd police apprehended two men on the roof of the Service Drug store Sunday night and have charged them with attempted burglary. Burglars hit the Eagles Club for a small amount of cash, hit Bob’s Liquors for $390 in liquor, and entered several more places.

Carl O. Peterson was elected president of the Brainerd Lions Club last night at the Hotel Ransford. Walt Doran will be 1st VP; M. O. Knowlton, 2nd VP; Everett Cripe, 3rd VP; Charles Halsted, secretary; and Clarence Berge will be treasurer.
