The state Executive Council yesterday heard testimony on the aerial spraying of Minnesota forest lands with the herbicide 2-4-D. They will delay a decision until April 27. One of the chief spokesmen for spraying opponents was Gary Payne of Brainerd.

(Photo) James Roy, of Co A, 367th Engineer Battalion, is sworn in as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Reserve by 2nd Lieutenant Ken Kramer, Brainerd, commanding officer of Company A. Roy is a graduate of Class 15 at the Minnesota Military Academy.

Beginning on April 24, the Brainerd Journal Press weekly newspaper will be published by the Brainerd Dispatch Newspaper Co. The job printing shop associated with the paper will continue at its own office, and be owned and operated by Ray Bang and Ralph Lindberg.

A 35-year-old Pierz man was one of a party of five spearing northerns on Lake Edward when surprised by Game Warden A. P. Cardle. The five men led Cardle on a half-mile chase down the shore before the Pierz man fell in a muskrat hole and was captured.

The private car of Howard M. Currie, mechanical superintendent of the Northern Pacific Railway, has been in the city several days. Mr. Currie is accompanied by Mr. Gilman, the master car builder, and several other railroad officials.
