In the Brainerd city women’s bowling tournament, Ann Anderson took the singles championship and Lucille Schellin-Judy Kassube the doubles. On the men’s side, Max Rehling won the singles and Chris Colette-John Flategraff took the doubles title.

Unless the Crow Wing County Fair Assn. receives its annual $12,500 allocation soon, there may not be a county fair this summer. Birney Wilkins, fair board secretary, said “I see no reason to become more involved without a commitment from the county board.”

The Brainerd office of the Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. announced that the strike of Communications Workers of America in 43 states has not affected telephone service here. The strike against Western Union, now in its fifth day, has closed Brainerd.

Appraisers of property through which the State Trunk Highway No. 2 will pass west of the Kingwood Street “fill” have received their instructions. The three commissioners were selected by Judge Wright and instructed by district court Judge Torrance.

J. M. Quinn went to Pillager this noon where he will superintend driving operations for 3 million feet of logs for the Pine Tree Lumber Co. There is now a good stage of water. The drive lasts 8 – 10 days. Quinn will get river drivers from Pillager but needs 15 more.
