The Greater Lakes Assn. of Realtors recently announced the election of officers for 1992. Jim Knudsen of Brainerd is president; Marjorie Nolan, Nisswa, is vice president; and Jo Christensen, Brainerd, was elected secretary. Janie Weston is executive director.

One of the most dramatic weekends in Warrior athletic history came to a close when 500 well-wishers met at the high school to salute the state champion wrestling team. Never ranked in the top 10 during the season, Brainerd thrashed Anoka 35-12 for the Class AA title.

Burglars used nitroglycerin to blow open the safe at the Nisswa municipal liquor store where they made off with $760 in cash. Paper money in the safe was damaged and anyone seeing bills that are torn, or with holes on one end, is asked to call the sheriff.
80 years ago (1932)
Mayor Harry Creger today sent a telegram to Col. Charles Lindbergh expressing the sympathy of Brainerd citizens to him and his wife over the kidnapping of their 20-month old son. “The people of Brainerd, many your youthful acquaintances, extend their sympathy.”
100 years ago (1912)
In a newspaper interview in St. Paul, George LaBar, president of the First National Bank of Brainerd, said “Preparations for active iron mining within the city limits of Brainerd are being made, with more than one million tons of ore blocked out, some running 65% iron.”
