Plagued by errant passing, fouls and missed free throws, the Warrior boys’ basketball team needed a spark. Reserve forward D.J. Theisen turned out to be the sparkplug in a 58-53 win over St. Cloud Tech. He had 10 points and eight rebounds off the bench.

The Brainerd City Council started the new year by re-electing Mildred Michaelis as president and Jim Brown as vice president. Frank McCarthy, a newcomer to the council, was sworn into office. Vacationing Mayor C. Elmer Anderson was absent.

The zoning ordinance for Crow Wing County was adopted yesterday by the county board, along with an amendment that included the board in the chain of appeals. Several petitions by residents noted they wanted the board appeals included in this matter.
