Pete Younghans won’t forget his first hockey game Jan. 4, 1990, as a Warrior sophomore when he scored two goals. He waited nearly two years to score again, but his next two goals helped Brainerd beat Crookston 4-2, as the Warriors improved to 5-0-1.

The Crow Wing County Rural Telephone Co., organized last May, announced it received a $382,000 loan from the REA in Washington, DC. Manager J.S. Zumwalt said this would cover construction of 400 miles of line and accommodate 1,200 farms south of Brainerd.

Indignation by citizens over the activities of Christmas tree light vandals has prompted a warning from Police Chief Templeton that rigid prosecution will be pursued. Light bulbs were removed from trees participating in the annual Lions club decorating contest.
100 years ago (1911)
The post office will overlook its rule of being closed on Sundays to allow the public to call for their Christmas packages from 9 to 10 Sunday morning. Rural mail carriers look like Santa Claus, and have their sleds loaded until there is hardly room for the driver.
