Members of the Brainerd Elks lodge have voted down a plan to build a new building on land they own adjacent to the Brainerd Country Club. Cost estimates were $650,000.

Twenty candidates have filed for election to the new seven-member city council to be elected on Dec. 4th. The new council, composed of two aldermen-at-large and one from each of the five wards, will be a reduction from the present 10-person council.

H. A. Wilson and Harold Kalland have returned from a successful deer hunt near Swan River. Wilson shot a buck weighing 200 pounds, one of the largest brought to the city this year. Kalland shot a doe weighing 140 pounds.
