Sallie Park emerged as one of the Brainerd Warriors' top swimmers last season. After eight meets this season she has nine individual victories and was a member of 10 first-place relays. She is named the Warrior Athlete of the Week for October 2nd.

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Brainerd observed its Centennial over the weekend. Over 400 people were present at the Jubilee Mass followed by dinner in the auditorium. Ed Tom O'Brien was guest speaker and C. A. Ryan master of ceremonies.

Notice was received by Ed Gray, adviser of the Brainerd FFA Chapter, that the chapter will receive the Gold Emblem award at the National FFA Convention in Kansas City next week. Only two chapters in any state receive this award in any given year.
80 years ago (1931)
Court house officials and employees, not to mention prisoners at the county jail, have adopted a flock of 12 ringneck pheasants that have made their home in the hollow behind the courthouse. Sheriff Little's father-in-law feeds the birds, which are protected from hunters.
100 years ago (1911)
