Merrifield lost one of its best known structures to fire when the Clayton Hollingsworth home was destroyed. The home was originally a store, then a restaurant. The new store building was built next to it and this structure was saved.

The Toltz Engineering Co. of St. Paul, which has the ten-year contract to deliver electric power to the city of Brainerd, has commenced delivering current to the business district. Within days the entire city will be supplied. They have three 150 horsepower motors.
