An oak tree might have been easier to decorate, but workers undertook to wrap a giant, yellow ribbon around the landmark water tower in Brainerd to welcome the troops home. The city's Al Cottingham and Cliff Waltz, and the Chamber's Barb Unger did the work.

Owners of only a slender 47-44 lead at halftime, Brainerd turned to a zone defense and rolled to an 85-60 win over the Staples Cardinals. Sharp-shooting guard Wayne Caughey led the Warriors with 21 points, followed by Larry Bunnell with 18.

Tonight, on the stage of the Washington High School auditorium, 30 models, headed by Miss Brainerd, Mary Duerr, will participate in a style show dressed in the latest spring fashions. Friday and Saturday will be the “Spring Opening” for Brainerd merchants.

T. Surber, superintendent of Fish Propagation at the State Game and Fish Dept., assured A. A. Weideman, Brainerd, that there would be plenty of walleyed pike fry this year. Those desiring fry to plant in area lakes should leave their name at Conklin Motor Co.

Rosko Brothers have received a new E.M.F. 30 horsepower, five-passenger touring car valued at $1,000. It is now on exhibition at their garage, 221 S. 9th Street. Their large brick addition facing 9th Street will be used as their display room for autos.
