20 years ago (1991)

Lance Hoff has had a record-breaking year in a Brainerd Warrior swimming and diving team season that's been a smashing success. The 6-3 junior demolished two Brainerd pool records with a time of 21.74 in the 50 freestyle and a 48.9 in the 100 free.

30 years ago (1981)

Hat tricks came easily for Brad Holland at the kids' amateur hockey level, so last night's first such three-goal effort by the talented senior center came as no surprise to Brainerd fans. His effort led the Warriors to a 5-0 shutout over CLC rival Alexandria.

40 years ago (1971)

60 years ago (1951)

Over 3,200 fans hooted and hollered for the entire fourth quarter as Brainerd pulled another game out of the fire against St. Cloud Tech, 36-35. Behind 35-33 with a minute to go, Jim Smith dunked a field goal to tie the game and was fouled. He hit the free throw.

80 years ago (1931)

The Crow Wing County Board of Commissioners has voted to appropriate $750 to a program of advertising for the lakes region to be conducted by the Brainerd Chamber of Commerce. They further voted to set aside $350 for the 10,000 Lakes Association.

100 years ago (1911)

Charles Hughes, the janitor who rooms at the Northern Pacific depot, was robbed of $15 while sound asleep last night. A sneak thief entered his room and took the money from his trousers. The thief was considerate enough to leave Charley 15 cents for breakfast.
