20 years ago (1990)

That's more like it, voters seemed to say, as they voted on the Brainerd School District's bonding referendum. Ten months after rejecting a $20 million proposal for renovations and a new junior high school, they approved a $6.62 million renovation plan.


30 years ago (1980)

40 years ago (1970)

Breaking away in the third quarter for a 10-point lead, the Brainerd Junior College Red Raiders rolled on for a 69-54 win over Hibbing. They now stand 3-2 for the season. Sharing scoring honors at 18 apiece were Bill Dawson and Terry Grewe.


60 years ago (1950)

Captain Whitey Skoog is carrying on this year right where he finished last season, as leading scorer for the Minnesota Gophers. His average of 12 points per game is below last year's average of 17, but should improve as he gets used to the new guard position.


80 years ago (1930)

Handicapped by the small floor conditions, Brainerd High School lost its first cage game of the season at Wadena High School by a score of 17-10. Next week the varsity plays two games at home and one away game. 


100 years ago (1910)

(Adv.) Brainerd Beer - Old Pilsener Style Lager brewed and bottled at the Brainerd Brewery. Brewed from Choicest Barley and Imported Hops, using sterilized Artesian Water. Delivered in the city at $2.25 a large case and $1.50 for a small case.
