Keith Bartholomaus recorded his first shutout of the season as the Warrior hockey team remained undefeated with a 3-0 victory at Crookston. Brainerd improved to 4-0 - all road victories, prompting coach Chuck Whalen to joke he'd reschedule all road games going forward.

The Brainerd City Council now has the option of selecting its next police chief from outside the department as the result of a decision by the Civil Service Commission. The 2-1 vote came despite objections voiced by many local police officers.

Chopping down Brainerd's defensive pattern with little trouble, Bemidji's Lumberjacks blasted out an impressive 50-32 victory over the Warriors before 1,900 fans at the Washington gym. Brainerd played without veteran Jim Smith, who had tonsillitis.

According to official census figures, Crow Wing County gained 1,061 residents in the last ten years to a total of 25,627. Cass County lost 306 for a total of 15,591. Brainerd gained 630 to reach 10,221, while Little Falls lost 486 for a 1930 total of 5,614.
100 years ago (1910)
A sharp explosion and pile of flying chunks of frozen dirt marked the first steps to erect the big electric light and power plant. One hundred pounds of dynamite were received and the first of it was used to tear up the frozen surface to permit concrete work to start.
