Brainerd and vicinity experienced a blustery, sub-zero, snow-blown Thanksgiving holiday. The mercury dropped to 9 degrees below zero and only reached 5 degrees above by afternoon. Highways were snow-free but icy and treacherous.

Bill Fitzharris, known here as "Bus" Fitzharris, and in state sporting circles as "The Brainerd Buster," was a unanimous choice as guard on the all-state college conference team. He played in the backfield last year but was moved to guard this season.

The turbine which generates electricity for the shops, and also the city of Brainerd, is to be shut down four days for repairs. This means the backup dynamo can only power the shops, churches and business district. The residential part area will be dark until Sunday.
