An apparent tie for one of two seats on the Trommald City Council may be decided by a drawing of lots.
Jackie Wood was the top vote-getter for the council Tuesday with 24 votes. Gary John LeBlanc and Cheryl Swanson each had 21 votes, according to the unofficial totals.
Deborah Erickson, elections coordinator in the Crow Wing County Auditor-Treasurer’s Office, said state statute calls for the winner to be determined by a drawing of lots in the case of a tie. She said she expected the Trommald canvassing board would meet next week.
Jim Hiller was elected Trommald mayor with 26 votes.
City Clerk Mona Geske could not be reached Friday.
Other city election results included:
■ HACKENSACK — A close race Tuesday for the Hackensack mayor’s post saw Larry Ciha garnering 82 votes compared to 81 by John Chuba. Almost as close was the race for the second of two council seats in Hackensack. Totals for the two council seats were David Sack, 87; Charlene Kay Wilkes, 73; Debbie Rateike, 71; and Stephen J. Ruhl, 56.
■ CROSSLAKE — Darrell Schneider defeated Peter Abler 903-621 to win the mayor’s post in Crosslake. The top two vote-getters, Mark Wessels, 914 votes; and Gary Heacox, 783 votes; won seats on the Crosslake City Council. Finishing out the field of council candidates were C. Rusty Taubert, 510 votes; Darrell Shannon, 338 votes.
■ LAKE SHORE — Krista Knudsen, 476 votes; and John Poston, 360 votes; earned spots Tuesday on the Lake Shore City Council Tuesday. Other council candidates were Mike Wagener, 222 votes; and John Bukovich, 110 votes.
