How we voted

The state may be blue, but lakes area counties are varying shades of red

Posted: November 8, 2012 - 10:53pm

Minnesota may be blue, but lakes area counties lean to the red — in varying shades from a deeper red to one that may be considered pink.

So how did area counties split in the presidential election and the choice between Gov. Mitt Romney and Rep. Paul Ryan and President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden?

■ Aitkin County — 49.58 percent of voters supported Romney with 48.26 percent for Obama. Registered voters on Election Day: 10,003 with an estimated 9,321 voters at the polls.

■ Cass County — 55.49 percent for Romney and 42.49 percent for Obama. Registered voters on Election Day: 18,152 with an estimated 16,211 voters at the polls.

■ Crow Wing County — 55.60 percent for Romney and 42.27 percent for Obama. Registered voters on Election Day: 37,979 with an estimated 35,067 voters at the polls.

■ Mille Lacs County — 53.10 percent for Romney and 44.53 percent for Obama. Registered voters on Election Day: 14,618 with an estimated 13,179 voters at the polls.

■ Morrison County — 60.78 percent Romney and 36.81 percent for Obama. Registered voters on Election Day: 17,998 with an estimated 16,837 voters at the polls.

■ Todd County — 56.93 percent for Romney and 40.83 percent for Obama. Registered voters on Election Day: 13,164 with an estimated 11,867 voters at the polls.

■ Wadena County — 61.01 percent for Romney and 36.70 percent for Obama. Registered voters on Election Day: 7,616 with an estimated 6,853 voters at the polls.

Results are considered unofficial until the state canvassing board meets on Nov. 27. As of Thursday afternoon, only Hennepin County, with 675,024 estimated voters Tuesday, was still incomplete for reporting precincts.

Funny Thing , Al Doty was Not Elected , Why ?

It seems the further away from civilization you get ( more rural) the more Red you see.
Its worth noting that while it seems people like Gazelka who the majority population of the entire state REJECT his beliefs , the minority locals saw fit to actually send this man back to St Paul.

Does that make Gazelka an effective voice for this area in St Paul ? NO !

Hey Onlinereader**** Gazelka has become irrelevant-nice work !

I was still looking for one individual that actually supports Gazelkas completely misguided efforts.
Guess you must be that sole (relative?) individual that actually thinks that way .
Lets check his accomplishments :
Wasting time on--- Marriage Amendment ,Voter ID , Shoot first legislation, elimination of the property tax credit , accounting gimmicks with the budget , and last but not least ( to name a few) shutting down the State of MN last summer while the Senate Majority Leader & her GOP asst Party Chairman ( Comm Director) were busy creating more expense for taxpayers due to their antics.
In my opinion your choice of a state lawmaker in MY district was very poor. You showed Horrible Judgement.
The Good News would be the MN GOP besides being bankrupt is now neutered as well. Making Gazelka irrelevant.

Oh the left won

if you want to call brain washing a bunch of ignorant collage kids and sucking up to poor folks with more free stuff a win. But what will the cost be to the country. Of course you don't really care about that. Heck now you have the promise of gay marriage and free condoms and now many can even smoke a little pot to become even more brain dead than you already are.Sounds like utopia is just around the corner.Have fun and enjoy!!

Those darn women voters

And college kids and Asian and African Americans just couldn't bring themselves to vote Republican.

And Florida, land of ten million retirees, went Democratic.

If we want a two party system to survive, best be figuring out how to appeal to some diverse elements that are increasing and not declining.

Conservative Catholics and evangelicals voted as a very

strong block for Gazelka, esp. in Cass County. If you were one of the sheep who was threatened by your priest/pastor with eternal damnation, that may have influenced your vote, too. We need to have a little compassion, I guess.

Perhaps the more educated citizens voted for Obama.
Don't try to paint all Obama supporters as welfare recipients.

Some diverse groups, ie. minorities,

Saw all the threats and intimidation surrounding Voter ID policies, as attempts at voter suppression.

That is the policy, merely one of the more egregious ones, that divided the electorate.

I'll repeat my logo and case...Thomas Jefferson...

The Fact that David Barton wrote a book about Tom, kinda says something...
Thomas Jefferson is on 2 Dollar Bills...Legal Tender...
I don't think I see David Barton, Michele Bachmann, or Paul Gazelka's facial imprint on legal currency in the United States, correct.?.
