ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann lashed out Wednesday at NBC for not apologizing or taking immediate disciplinary action for an off-color song played during her appearance on Jimmy Fallon's "Late Night."

In her first comments on the flap, Bachmann said on the Fox News Channel that the Fallon show band displayed sexism and bias by playing a snippet of a 1985 Fishbone song as she walked onstage for Tuesday's show. The title of the song is "Lyin' [filtered word] B----."

"This is clearly a form of bias on the part of the Hollywood entertainment elite," Bachmann said. She added, "This wouldn't be tolerated if this was Michelle Obama. It shouldn't be tolerated if it's a conservative woman either."

Fallon has tweeted an apology to Bachmann, saying he was "so sorry about the intro mess." Bachmann said she hoped to speak with Fallon later Wednesday and wouldn't mind going on his show again.

But Bachmann expressed surprise that she's heard nothing from the TV network. She suggested that discipline for the show's Roots band was in order.

One of Bachmann's congressional colleagues, New York Democrat Nita Lowey, had called on NBC to apologize for its "insulting and inappropriate" treatment of its guest.

An NBC spokeswoman didn't immediately return a phone message from The Associated Press.

The Roots' bandleader, Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson, has said the song was a "tongue-in-cheek and spur-of-the-moment decision."

Bachmann, who is lagging in presidential polls, has spent the week promoting her new autobiography in national television interviews.

Bachmann

I don't know if it is sexism, but bias towards the GOP candidates. This is just the mainstream media and networks showing their true colors. If Fox news or any or their shows were to show the Obama's with music in the background, such as this, you can only imagine the response from the Dems and liberals!

I agree, Richie

That was tasteless. But then that is what tv after 10:30 pm generally thrives on.
OTOH, at least he apologized. Limbo and Beckie would never do that after insulting public figures.

Tweeting an apology

is not apologizing. Well, my friends just brought over Wild Turkey Bourbon and I guess the holiday starts now. This is what I like, liquid Thanksgiving. Have a nice holiday, I'm off to Madison, (with a designated driver!)

This just gives her more of

This just gives her more of what she craves; publicity.

I have yet to hear her apologize for terrorizing seniors with lies about "death panels". She should be ashamed.

In the world of make believe...

apologies for misspoken errors of fact are never apologized for.
Guess the band spoke a lot of truth...In a song...to folks in non-make believe world...Which are voters in 2012

"Elect me President and gas

"Elect me President and gas will be $2 a gallon".

Call this pandering to the uninformed, complete lunacy, or a flat-out lie ...... take your pick. In any case, the media has been toooo soft on this tea party favorite. She deserves to be exposed for what she is ...... an extremely confused charlatan.

what she really is...

is ignorant. She wouldn't have the power as president to change the price of gas...you know we do have capitalism. And she couldn't get rid of the health care act on her first day. Congress has the power to legislate. Where in the heck did she get her law knowledge...oh yes, Oral Roberts' defunct law school.

I call her smart!

Hillary did that...picked a state she had never lived in and won a seat in the Senate. Cravaack did that, too. Moved to New Hampshire to run for a seat there...Oh, sorry, that is his 2012 plan. Cheney did that, too, when laws said the prez and v-prez couldn't live in the same state.
There is some US Rep in Florida who doesn't live in his district. It isn't required there, I guess.

I think Taryl is smart to not go against Bachmann. Taryl would be my choice and I couldn't vote for her last time. Lots of good candidates waiting to unseat New Hampshire resident, Chip Cravaack.

I am truly astounded that Bachmann was the highest money spender and fund raiser in the last election. Wonder if the glamour has worn off for her constituents.

You must read the same book as I. I had the pleasure of meeting Kevin McHale & his wife during
a Vike's game. I said to him to run for public office & he would be a shoe in. He is a good
person not corrupt yet!! I just never asked the man where he live's.

Seriously----how many people knew what the song snippet was and was it her camp who informed the media about it? I'm kind of out of touch with the music scene but I don't believe Lying A-- B---- by Fishbone was exactly a number one song on the 1985 Hit Parade. Personally I think the whole thing is funny.

Too Funny, Too True

The song is dead on for Bachmann, she is crazy. Everything out of her mouth is based on no fact whatsoever. I was excited when she became a frontrunner because I knew all the dumb things she said in the past and present would come back to get her......and they did.

Love the move by Questlove and the Roots. Hope the people in her district come to their senses, she must be putting something in the water down there.

What the blank are you talking about? ***Cheney did that, too, when laws said the prez and v-prez couldn't live in the same state*** There is NO law to that effect, and even if there was Cheney is from Wyoming and Bush is from Texas. 5 time re-elected to the US House from Wyoming. Born in Nebraska and lived in Casper Wyoming. So again, what are you talking about?

cheney

Because he was CEO of Halliburton in TX and was a resident, tradition said he could not run for VP from the same state as G.W. Bush.

The 12th amendment of the Constitution regarding the electoral college implies that a president and vice-president may not be residents of the same state. This is because electoral votes must be cast for residents of two states, in order that the larger states don't always win the presidency and vice-presidency.

Cheney was a resident of Texas until he ran with Bush. He moved to Wyoming and registered and got a driver's license to establish his residency there. He bought a house there, too.

google dick cheney residency requirement
wiki:

"A few months before the election Cheney put his home in Dallas up for sale and changed his drivers' license and voter registration back to Wyoming. This change was necessary to allow Texas' presidential electors to vote for both Bush and Cheney without contravening the Twelfth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which forbids electors from voting for someone from their own state for both President and Vice-President."

to clarify for myself:

Dutchman, you are saying tork is a Tea Party leaning person and I have TMI in my response for him/her? Well, it is good for whomever is posting to try to make the reader understand what you are saying, so you aren't misinterpreted or misunderstood. I am kind of wordy, but that is due to my interest in history and political philosophy. Well, enough about me, I hope that is what you meant.
