Level 3 predatory offender Robert Arthur Litzau, who Monday was on the Minnesota Department of Corrections’ (DOC) Most Wanted Minnesota Fugitives list, has been taken off the list.
According to the DOC website, Litzau, 70, on Monday failed to register as a predatory offender. Litzau was released from prison on Feb. 4 and moved to a residence on 24th Avenue Southwest in rural Pine River.
Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch said Tuesday that Litzau was taken into custody Monday night and is in Cass County Jail, pending a violation hearing.
Litzau was convicted April 5, 1999, for felony fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct with a 15-year-old male victim, whom he knew, in Crow Wing County and has been required to register as a predatory offender since.
Litzau violated the conditions of his release in 2011 by not registering as a Level 3 predatory offender in Cass County. This was Litzau’s second offense in failing to register as a Level 3 predatory offender. Litzau was sentenced to serve two years in prison, minus the time he has already spent in custody. The judge also imposed a 10-year conditional release period, which was triggered by the fact that Litzau is a Level 3 predatory offender.
