Man injured in crash after fleeing tribal police
CASS LAKE — A Bemidji man was seriously injured when the Dodge Durango he was driving left the road while he was fleeing police at high rates of speed.
The crash was reported at 12:28 a.m. Friday on Mission Road northeast of Power Dam Road, north of Cass Lake in Beltrami County.
The driver, Robin Hill, 39, was fleeing from Leech Lake Tribal Police. Hill lost control of the car on an icy gravel road, entered the ditch, rolled and struck several trees.
Alcohol was detected, the Minnesota State Patrol reported. Hill was not wearing a seat belt.
Hill was transported to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, N.D.
Beltrami County Sheriff’s department, Cass Lake Fire/Rescue, Leech Lake Ambulance and North Air Care assisted.
