Onamia School District employee accused of criminal sexual relations with student
ONAMIA — A 33-year-old Onamia Public School District male employee was arrested for allegedly having criminal sexual relations with a 17-year-old female student, Mille Lacs County Sheriff Brent C. Lindgren reported in a news release.
Lindgren said the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation Thursday into allegations of the criminal sexual conduct. The Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office school liaison deputy developed information that one of the school’s student’s may have knowledge regarding possible criminal sexual relations between a fellow student and school employee.
The liaison deputy and an investigator interviewed the student, who had typed on the school computer earlier about the possible relationship between another student and the school employee. The victim was then identified as a 17-year-old female student and was subsequently interviewed. The victim student confirmed that a sexual relationship had occurred between the victim and the school employee.
The suspect employee of Milaca was interviewed and was taken to the Mille Lacs County Jail, pending formal charges with the Mille Lacs County Attorney’s Office.
