Brainerd woman charged with Jan. 17 stabbing incident
A Brainerd woman has been formally charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon following an alleged stabbing incident that occurred Jan. 17 in Nisswa
Carie Mello, 42, was arrested Jan. 17 after allegedly stabbing Wayne Compton, 24, at his residence in Nisswa. Reports following the incident said that Mellow stabbed Compton with a paring knife and then fled the scene.
Mello was captured in Merrifield shortly after the incident and made her first court appearance Jan. 18. Mello and Compton were both taken to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Crow Wing County Court Administration confirmed that Mello was release from the Crow Wing County Jail after posting bail for $10,000 with conditions including she maintain good behavior, possess no fire arms remain in the state of Minnesota and be subject to alcohol monitoring.
Mello is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 3 in Crow Wing County District Court for an omnibus hearing.
