Motley man charged in stolen vehicle incident
A Motley man faces three charges in connection with Monday’s police pursuit that stretched from Crosby to Brainerd.
Zachary Bennett, 19, was charged Wednesday in Crow Wing County with theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing a police officer, both felony counts, and driving after revocation, misdemeanor.
Bennett allegedly stole a vehicle Monday from in front of the Subway in Crosby and led police on a pursuit that ended on the surface of Rice Lake in Brainerd.
A news release from the Brainerd Police Department said Bennett abandoned the vehicle on Rice Lake and was taken into custody after officers found him walking in northeast Brainerd.
Bennett also faces a separate felony charges for receiving stolen property and a gross misdemeanor for carrying a firearm without a permit. Both of those charges were filed Dec. 31
Bennett is being held at the Crow Wing County Jail. The Crow Wing County Attorney’s office said a future court date has not yet been scheduled.
