Woman arrested after stabbing incident
NISSWA — A 42-year-old Brainerd woman was arrested Thursday for allegedly stabbing a 24-year-old Nisswa man in the abdomen with a paring knife, Nisswa Police Chief Craig Taylor said.
It was reported that the woman allegedly stabbed Wayne Compton at his residence on Church Street in Nisswa, and then fled the scene. She was captured shortly after on a county road in Merrifield.
Taylor said both, the woman and the man, were taken to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Taylor said officials are investigating how the woman was injured.
Taylor said charges of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon are pending against the Brainerd woman.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Department and the Pequot Lakes, Breezy Point and Lake Shore police departments assisted Nisswa police with the incident.
