Little Falls man faces assault charges with a gun
LITTLE FALLS — A 33-year-old Little Falls man was arrested Wednesday after a welfare check where the man presented a handgun that led to a 15-minute stand-off with police officers, said Little Falls Police Chief Greg Schrimmer.
Schrimmer said no shots were fired and officers were able to apprehend the man, who was transferred to St. Gabriel’s Hospital to be treated for a medical issue. The man then was taken into custody to Morrison County Jail, pending formal felony charges for second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon with a police officer. The man was scheduled to be seen Friday in Morrison County District Court.
Schrimmer said the incident occurred at Lot 14 of the Mobile Home Park right across from the Little Falls Community High School. The school went into a lock-down, as a result as a precautionary measure.
The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol assisted at the scene.
