Man accused of kidnapping woman he met online
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Police arrested a man in St. Paul who's accused of kidnapping and assaulting a woman he met on an Internet dating website.
A warrant issued Wednesday charges 31-year-old William Hammac with numerous crimes, including kidnapping. Authorities say Hammac and the Spring Lake woman met online about three weeks ago and arranged to watch a movie at her home Tuesday. The woman told police she asked Hammac to leave when he began making sexual advances. She thought he left and went to bed, but he appeared in her bedroom the next morning.
Anoka County sheriff's Lt. Paul Sommer tells the Pioneer Press (http://bit.ly/tVwJNJ ) Hammac was armed with a knife, taped the woman's wrists and mouth, assaulted her and put her in the trunk of her car. After driving around, he eventually let her go in St. Paul.
