A bitter wind has the Brainerd lakes area under a wind chill advisory until noon Monday.

The National Weather Service in Duluth says wind chill values will dip to 25-30 below zero late Sunday and early Monday.

But the cold weather won’t stop when the wind chill advisory ends.

Monday will continue the frigid trend with a high near 1 degree below zero and wind chill values between 15 and 25 degrees below zero. Less than an inch of snow is also expected to fall.

Monday night will dip to 22 degrees below zero, with wind chills between 25 and 35 degrees below zero.

Tuesday will follow suit with a high of 5 degrees below zero and wind chill values between 25 degrees below zero to 35 degrees below zero.

Tuesday night’s low is expected to be 19 degrees below zero.

Temperatures could finally creep above zero on New Years Day, with a high of 1 degree in the weather service’s forecast.

Friday will be the first break in frigid temps, with a high of 12 degrees and a low of 7 degrees.
