ROYALTON — A 23-year-old Nisswa man died Friday morning in a two-vehicle, broadside collision in Royalton, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.
The victim, Lucas A. Johnson, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Cody D. Husemoller, 20, of Duluth.
The collision happened shortly before 11 a.m., the state patrol reported. Husemoller was driving southbound on Highway 10 in Royalton when he swerved to avoid stopped traffic and slid into the oncoming lane of traffic, where his car was struck broadside on the passenger side by a van driven by Scott M. Geiger, 36, Sartell.
Johnson, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported to a St. Cloud hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Geiger suffered no apparent injuries. Husemoller suffered non life-threatening injuries and was transported to an unnamed hospital.
Road conditions were described by the State Patrol as wet at the time of the collision. The Morrison County Sheriff’s Department and the Motley Police Department assisted at the scene of the collision.
