■ Donations count double for Salvation Army
Donations made to the Brainerd Salvation Army on Dec. 20 and Saturday will be doubled, according to the Brainerd Lakes Salvation Army.
“No matter how you donate — at a kettle, online, by phone or in person — every dollar you give will be matched,” Capt. Scott Strissel, Brainerd Lakes Salvation Army administrator, said.
The match is made possible by a small group of anonymous donors who pooled together $2 million worth of matching funds to help the Salvation Army’s Christmas Campaign in Minnesota and North Dakota. Kettle donations are down in both states according to the organization’s statement.
“This is the largest two-day matching gift in Salvation Army history,” Strissel said.

The library will provide the canvasses (a.k.a. ceiling tiles), materials, and studio time; it’s up to the teens to make the masterpiece.
