Firefighters battle blaze in Verndale
VERNDALE — Alerted by a smoke detector, a homeowner was able to get out of a house fire safely Thursday.
The Verndale Fire Department was called to the house fire at 12:58 p.m. and fought the blaze for 20 minutes before bringing it under control.
The home owner was able to make it out of the house safely without any injuries and call 911 to report the fire. Minnesota Light and Power were called to disconnect the power to the house. The house has heavy smoke damage and will need to be cleaned. Verndale Fire Chief Don Weniger stated that no firefighters were injured while fighting the fire.
