Three finalists for the Brainerd Lakes Chamber’s second Business Excellence Award represent advertising, manufacturing and recreation.
The companies range from a handful of employees to more than 400 and from Brainerd to Merrifield to Crosslake. While their histories are different, what each company listed as a quality that sets them apart was remarkably similar — adaptability and customer service.
The Business Excellence Award, presented by the Brainerd Dispatch, is designed to recognize an area business for its entrepreneurial spirit and business achievements.
Finalists for this year’s award are Clow Stamping in Merrifield, Crosswoods Golf in Crosslake and RedHouseMedia in Brainerd.
Each company was able to adapt to a changing marketplace and possesses a drive to continue to improve. The three businesses also share a commitment to community.
The 2013 recipient of the first Business Excellence Award was Widseth Smith Nolting. Nominees were Range Inc. and Deerwood Technologies.
Judging criteria looks at a variety of factors, including the growth, innovation, ethics and community impact of the nominated business.
The winner will be named at the Brainerd Lakes Chamber Annual Dinner on Oct. 7 at Breezy Point Resort.
