Club Fall Speech Contests set
LITTLE FALLS — Humorous Toastmasters invites residents to its Fall Speech Contest to watch the club’s Evaluation and Humorous Speech Contest speakers compete to participate in the District 6 Speech Contest. The Area 61 and 62 Fall Speech Contest will also be held in Little Falls
“Area Speech Contests Toastmasters provides an opportunity to showcase our local talent and to hear well prepared and polished speeches,” says Crystal Anderson, President of Humorous Toastmasters Club.
The Fall Club Speech Contest is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Unity Specialty Center (on the back side of St. Gabriel’s Hospital) at 808 3rd St SE (south of 7th Avenue).
The Fall Area 61 & 62 Speech Contest is 10 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 7 at LeBlanc’s Rice Creek Hunting & Recreation (6 1/2 miles out of Little Falls) at 16543 Game Farm Road, Little Falls.

Toastmasters Humorous meets every first and third Thursdays of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Lindbergh Room of the Unity Specialty Center on the back side of St. Gabriel’s Hospital, 808 3rd St SE (South of Seventh Ave), Little Falls. ■ United Way Chil Cook-off Sept 18
The United Way of Crow Wing and Southern Cass Counties invites the public to bring family, friends, and co-workers to the annual Chili Cook-Off to be held Sept. 18 at the Westgate Mall.
Beginning at 11:30 a.m., participants may sample a wide variety of chili for only $7. Beverages and ice cream are included, as well as a vote for the Community Choice award. Awards are presented at 12:45 p.m., so people should come early, come hungry, and come prepared to support the United Way as they kick off their annual campaign. Tim Mahoney, known best as a contestant on NBC’s “The Voice” will provide musical entertainment for Cook-off attendees. The presenting sponsor for this year’s event is Cuyuna Regional Medical Center.
