Brainerd is among the sites were the Minnesota House Select Committee on Living Wage Jobs will make its first outstate stops of its interim tour next month. The Brainerd stop will be Aug. 20 with the time to be announced at a later date.
Committee members will ask workers across the state, “How is Minnesota’s economy working for you?” according to a news release. The committee has gathered research and testimony on how to improve wages and working conditions for Minnesota workers. At the meetings, the committee will share its findings to date and ask for community opinions on legislation. While some specific locations and meeting times are yet to be determined, the committee has unveiled its schedule for the remainder of the interim as follows:
Duluth: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, Duluth Labor Temple, 2002 London Rd., Duluth.
Hibbing: 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, IBEW Hall, 503 East 16th St., Hibbing.
Albert Lea: Aug. 8.
Brainerd: Aug. 20.
St. Cloud: Sept. 10.
Willmar: Sept. 19.
Moorhead: Oct. 2.
Bemidji: Oct. 24.
