A bright spot: Crow Wing County reports excellent cross-country ski conditions
Crow Wing County Lands Services is reporting some of the best cross-country skiing of the season is this spring.
Recent snowfall is making for excellent conditions for late season spring skiing on the Larson Lake and Wolf Lake Trails, the county reported.
“The trails were packed, groomed and tracks set this week,” said Bryan Pike, county natural resource manager, in a news release. “A favorable weather forecast should provide an excellent recreational opportunity for residents and visitors.”
Visit the county ski trail web page at http://www.co.crow-wing.mn.us/index.aspx?NID=317 for current trail conditions, maps, driving directions and additional information.
The county manages 105,000 acres of forest land for timber production and diverse recreational opportunities for multiple users. The sale of timber at public auctions during the year funds the county’s management of these lands, while providing revenues to local communities. County forest lands are managed to strict environmental standards established by both the Sustainable Forestry Initiative and the Forest Stewardship Council certification standards.
