Rep. Joe Radinovich, DFL–Crosby, last week introduced a bill that would reduce the Unemployment Insurance tax (UI) paid by employers. The bill would lower the UI base tax rate to 0.1 percent, reducing business taxes by $346.5 million over two years.
“This bill provides businesses with more money that they can then use to hire new workers, expand their business, and grow our economy,” Rep. Radinovich said in a statement “With our economy still slowly recovering, this could be a nice boost for businesses around the state.”
Minnesota’s UI tax rates are determined by the balance in the UI Trust Fund. The Trust Fund has recovered from the economic downturn and is projected to have sufficient reserves — well within the solvency levels recommended by the federal government — to meet future needs.
“Not only does this bill cut taxes for area businesses and put more money in their pockets to create jobs, it doesn’t use money from the General Fund or explode our already-large budget deficit,” said Rep. Radinovich. “In my opinion, that’s a win-win.”
The bill has bipartisan support and Republican co-authors, according to Radinovich’s statement.
House File 577 is scheduled to be heard in the House Jobs and Economic Development Finance and Policy Committee on Thursday.
Rep. Radinovich encourages constituents to contact him with any questions, comments, concerns, or ideas on any legislative topic. Rep. Radinovich may be reached by phone at 651-296-2365 or by email at rep.joe.radinovich@house.mn.

Joe has obviously been kidnapped and replaced with a doppleganger.
It's not April 1st yet, is it?
Who ever has
The old Joe better keep him ehh Johan?? This new Ranger is kind of sounding pretty good. (Can't believe I said that)
New Ranger
I Had the opportunity to talk to him a couple weeks ago, second time already this year, one on one. Nice guy. Seems to have a good head on his shoulders. He listens a lot. I hope he gets himself a good mentor in the house instead of Little Johnny. That would be his big downfall. Johnny and his puppeteer, Sammy, could definitely put a good legislator (Joe) on an irreparable skid. Keep up the good work Joe. Our area needs good people like you. I can't believe I just said that, but it's true.
Hey Purposed
Maybe you missed this the other day. Is the second to the last letter in your last name and "a", "e", "i", "o" or "u".
It would seem that Joe, unlike pandering Ward, is actually
working for those who elected him, instead of working for his ego!
Does anybody
Suppose these letters from joe & john are a way to keep most people's mind's off the gun issue?? I have not heard a peep on how they stand on it. Has anybody else?? I might have missed it.
MN gun issue
It looks like they are folding and may just go for some universal ID check. I've no official knowledge just something I read online and you know how that works.
I think it was on Powerline but, not sure, sorry.
Rangers love guns
I emailed Joe a couple of weeks ago and he replied quickly and indicated that he was against any further restrictions on our gun rights. He is solid! Go-CI-Go!
OFB
I talked with Joe on 8 Feb, in person, and asked why he hadn't replied to that question about his position on guns. He said he hadn't had time yet and was very busy but his position was that he was against any changes. I told him that he better get on board with an answer or it is an issue that could bite him in the next election. He said OK but I haven't seen a written published committment from him. He better get that out in writing or he will be held accountable later.
Purposed
Thanks for that big O. I thought I knew you but maybe not. Oh well. Thanks again.
SadLady, I'm a french model,
SadLady, I'm a french model, you believe me right?
motley, the French model
Sure, that is a funny commercial. In fact, the article I was referring to was in the Mpls Tribune today and I read the summary on Powerline. I figured if someone is interested then they can find it and see first hand.
I think that commercial is funny but, can't remember what they are advertising. Doesn't he say Bon Jour? Or as we say "Good Day".
Cuts that Don't Cost us in the end!
Not surprised that a democrat would propose this, as most of the truly fiscal conservative proposals have sadly come only from them in recent years. Republicans are great at proposing tax cuts, "one time"/later treated as permanent tax cuts, cuts in fees etc. while not caring that the proposals can't be paid for, thus they lead to MORE government debt.
Am a bit surprised to see Joe lead the charge--good for him!
Gun bills aren't dead yet, but the most egregious ones are looking pretty sick. The house might pass one or two, but they have little chance in the senate anymore. Several of the urban democrats who were the prime initiators of bills have backed away from everything but background checks now.
Knowing how they work there's still a chance of a late night amendment or a back room deadline deal, but given the hot politics on them I think most of the new gun reg bills are dead.
