CROSSLAKE — Brad Person was appointed Crosslake city attorney in a Thursday morning special council meeting.
Crosslake’s former city attorney Michael Couri asked not to be considered for the position after it was confirmed that Person met with the mayor, a council member and two council members-elect in December. Person said he met with the men in groups of two.
In a letter to the council, Couri said those meetings violated the public’s trust.
Person’s appointment follows public interviews of three attorneys, which were heard Jan. 18.
Person works for Breen and Person, which has an office in Crosslake.
Person was appointed on a 4-1 vote, with council member Steve Roe voting against the appointment.
