Brainerd chess tournament registration begins
BAXTER — Brainerd Area chess tournament will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 9 at Forestview Middle School in Baxter.
All ages are welcome.
Cost is $10 and pre-register is preferred. Register online at isd181.org and click on the Community Education banner or contact Community Education, at 454-6924 and register with a credit card.
Registration at the door is $15 and it closes at 8:45 a.m.
The tournament is for individuals and/or teams. There will be five rounds, four rounds assured; one round per hour. Clocks started for unfinished games at 45 minutes. Swiss system pairing.
There will be awards for top individual players in divisions K-3, 4-6, 7-12 and adult. Traveling team trophy to overall first place team. Scores are based on top four players for each K-12 team.
Competitors are asked to bring their chess sets if possible, tournament style is preferred.
