Ruud appointed to Great Lakes Commission
Sen. Carrie Ruud, R-Breezy Point, has been appointed to serve in the Minnesota delegation of the Great Lakes Commission. Along with her appointment to the commission, Ruud was invited to attend the Great Lakes Commission semi-annual meeting in Washington D.C. in March of 2013.
“This will be a great opportunity to meet with regional policy makers and members of Congress who play a critical role in shaping Great Lakes policy,” she said.
The Great Lakes Commission was established in 1955 by the Great Lakes Basin Compact and works to “promote the orderly, integrated and comprehensive development, use and conservation of the water resources of the Great Lakes Basin.”
The commission is made up of members from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin along with the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec.
