MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Washington County resident whose records were accessed by a Department of Natural Resources employee has filed a lawsuit in federal court.
Jeffrey Ness is one of about 5,000 people whose driving or motor vehicle records were accessed without authorization. His complaint seeks class-action status, and is believed to be the first to come out of the data breach.
The employee's name has not been released. The DNR has said the employee no longer works there. The incident is being investigated.
The employee, listed as John Doe, is named as a defendant, along with the DNR, the Department of Public Safety, and commissioners of those agencies. The lawsuit alleges they violated data privacy laws.
A spokesman for the attorney general's office did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.

Worried about a data breach, and yet the idiot in the White
House wants everyone to register their gun. Funny how dems were so worried that the Voter ID law, if implemented, was going to costs TOO MUCH MONEY, but setting up a gun registration for public viewing is, what, FREE?
Whoa, wait just a cott0n-pickin' minute, pdnet
I thought "idiot" meant someone with a low IQ; Obama's is up there around 140, I think.
I don't recall ever hearing that any national gun-ownership database would be publicly accessible; obviously you did.
Care to reveal your sources...or are you just trolling?
"reaveal your sources...or are you just trolling?"
I thought the same thing when you placed Barack 'Corpse Man' Obamas IQ at "around 140". I know, I know he went to Harvard right?
