Fish house burns on Clark Lake

NISSWA — Nisswa firefighters responded to a call at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to a fish house on fire on Clark Lake, Nisswa Fire Chief Richard Geike said.

Geike said to tackle a fish house fire, firefighters used their all-terrain vehicle with tracks that carries 90 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.

Geike said the fish house, owned by Marv Koep, a well-known fishing guide in the Brainerd lakes area, was small and made of aluminum. It was a total loss.

“It was pretty much burnt out by the time we got there,” said Geike, but a few small things were still burning. “It was a total loss.”

Geike said the fish house was empty and no one was hurt.

There were four firefighters on the lake and six were on shore or at the fire hall during the call.
